Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometers

Base model PlasmaQuant® MS

The PlasmaQuant® MS mass spectrometer is a versatile workhorse for routine analysis. Thanks to this instrument, analysis in the environmental sector, agriculture, food, pharmaceutical, chemical and petrochemical industries becomes economical and efficient.

To eliminate polyatomic interference, a reaction-collision cell is used. The cell is located at the entrance to the high vacuum region. The ADD10 system accurately dampens strong signals in automatic mode, without requiring a special analog measurement.

The improved design of the generator used in the device allows to reduce the argon consumption by almost 2 times in comparison with analogues with the same plasma quality. The average argon consumption in this case is 7-9 liters / min when using a standard burner without additional peripheral devices. A decrease in the argon flow rate does not affect the quality of the plasma; moreover, the plasma is electrically neutral, as a result of which the formation of secondary ions even with a low value of the second ionization potential is reduced.

The Nitrox block (available as an option for this model) allows the introduction of alternative gases (nitrogen and oxygen) into the plasma, thereby optimizing some analytical tasks (analysis of arsenic and analysis of organic samples).

An important advantage is the extreme resistance of the plasma to any type of matrix, from wastewater to organic solvents.

PlasmaQuant® MS. The benefits are obvious:

  • Universal instrument for routine analysis
  • Eco Plasma allows to reduce argon consumption in 2 times
  • iCRC – Effectively remove matrix interference
  • ADD10 – digital detector with 10-order linear dynamic range
  • Integrated aerosol dilution system for analysis of low-salt samples with a complex matrix
  • Compact desktop fixture with conveniently located input ports.

Highly sensitive model PlasmaQuant® MS Elite

The PlasmaQuant® MS Elite is a research-grade device with unique sensitivity and low background noise. The highest sensitivity on the market for PlasmaQuant® MS Elite is achieved with the new plasma generation system, ReflexION ion optics and a high-performance 3 MHz quadrupole mass analyzer.

When using a laser evaporator in (LA-ICP-MS), the laser is directed onto the surface of the solid sample, and the resulting particles enter the ICP-MS plasma. The spot size corresponds to the size of the crater formed on the surface of the sample and depends on the type of laser, its interaction with the sample and the operating parameters used (6, 7). The dimensions of a standard laser crater are 10 to 50 microns in diameter. The laser evaporator together with ICP-MS can be used to solve complex analytical problems, where the distribution of the content of elements in the sample can provide important information, such as, for example, analysis of growth zones in corals to obtain information on historical fluctuations in sea temperature, analysis fish otoliths for monitoring pollution of the sea. In geochemistry, both a laser with a cavity resonator and a laser with a small spot size are used.

PlasmaQuant® MS Elite. The benefits are obvious:

  • ReflexION – a patented ion mirror reflecting the ion flow at 90 °
  • 3 MHz quadrupole provides very efficient ion separation
  • ADD10 – automatic sensitivity adjustment to ensure a linear dynamic range of at least 10 orders of magnitude and increase the life of the detector
  • Dual-connect technology: two connection ports
